Stolen Laptop
A woman called police on Aug. 11 at 11:54 a.m. to report her laptop had been stolen from her home located on Humes Place West. She said the laptop had been in the study area of her house when she left on Aug 10 at about 12:30 p.m. She returned that evening at about 7:30 p.m. and when she sat down to do her homework later that night, she found that her laptop along with its lime green soft case was missing. The power cord was still there.
The victim told police she could not find any signs of forced entry to the home. But she found that her spare house key was missing from a bookcase shelf. She said that she was having the house locks changed that day. Nothing else was noted as missing or disturbed at the time of the call.

Police responded to a burglary call made at 10:05 a.m. on Aug. 3 about a gate that had been pried open at a garage located in the 1100 block of Harrison Street.

Police Blotter 8/11
Stolen Car
A man called police at 5:42 a.m. on Aug. 2 to report his car had been stolen from his secured private garage located in the 1200 block of Dexter Avenue North. The man told police he had parked his car at 9 p.m. on Aug. 1 and when he returned to the garage at 5:15 a.m. on Aug. 2 the car was gone.
The man said that his car keys had been stolen in a burglary that had taken place earlier this year. He said he believes this is the means by which his car was stolen.

Police Blotter 8/4
Electrical Bandits
Police responded to a reported burglary at a business located in the 300 block of Second Avenue West at 12:25 p.m. on July 14. An employee said that unknown suspects had entered the building by unknown means at 3:04 a.m. that morning. Surveillance video of the west side roll up door in the building's first floor parking garage stops at 3:04 a.m., the surveillance camera's wires had been cut.

Sex offender Cothern pleads not guilty
John Richard Cothern was arrested July 13 and charged Friday, July 16 with five counts of possessing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Cothern was arraigned on Monday when he pleaded not guilty. He is being held at the King County Jail on $750,000 bail and is scheduled for trial Aug. 24.

Police Blotter 7/28
Confusion
Police responded to a reported burglary at a home located in the 2600 block of Perkins Lane West at 12:16 p.m. on July 12. The victims were two homeowners, one of which said he left the house at 8:30 a.m. and when he returned he found that the northeast bathroom window had been left ajar.
When he entered the house he found that the master bathroom had been ransacked. Taken from inside the house was approximately $5,000 in Canon camera equipment and a BOSE sound system.
