Carpenters Local Union 1797 has endorsed Larry Phillips for King County Executive.
"We've endorsed Larry because he's always been a supporter of working families in our communities," said Cass Prindle, recording secretary of the 1797 political committee.
In a little more than four weeks since announcing his candidacy for King County executive, more than 750 people in King County have given their support to Phillips' campaign.
His supporters include nearly 100 leaders within the Democratic Party, more than 20 current and former elected officials and hundreds of regular folks.
Notable endorsers include the mayors of Issaquah, Enumclaw and Maple Valley-all of whom have worked with Phillips to address issues in their East King County communities.
Phillips, who holds a law degree and masters in labor law, believes in the fundamental right of individuals to organize for better working conditions and employment protections. He supports the Employee Free Choice Act and has been an advocate for workers' rights as a member of the Metropolitan King County Council.
"I'm proud to have earned the support of the members of Carpenters Local Union 1797," Phillips said. "Reaching out to the hard-working members of our region's labor unions has been a cornerstone of my efforts on the County Council and will be a cornerstone of my work as the next county executive."
