Queen Anne’s Julia Bolz did something that many of us only dream about: she walked away from a successful career in 1998 to pursue work that inspired her and helped changed the world for a few of the world’s less fortunate.
The Mercer Street corridor, a major east-west corridor that links Interstate-5 with the Queen Anne and Magnolia area, didn’t live up to it’s name this week as commuters appeared to take changes to the roadway in stride.

The largest ship to sail under the American flag, it had the cargo capacity of 2,500 train cars. It boasted 9 decks and measured 622 feet long. It weighed nearly 21,000 tons and could travel at speeds of almost 15 knots under full steam power.
Magnolia’s Dish It Up! appears to be one more victim of the ongoing recession.

In “The Grey,” it’s nice to see Liam Neeson back in a movie where he looks like he’s enjoying himself as opposed to picking up an easy paycheck, which is what he seems to have been doing that for the past couple of years.
You forget the 59-year-old Irish actor can be quite good.

Seattle is fortunate: Forbes Magazine predicted we would have a strong, early recovery from the recession, and it looks like Forbes was right. The magazine also forecast the recovery would be sustained for a number of years due in part to our strong jobs market.

That goes for the sledding along Queen Anne Avenue North during the recent snowstorm.
Russell, 74, just may have been the oldest kid sledding down Queen Anne Avenue last week. Armed with his saucer from Bartell Drugs, he ventured out onto the street for a little adrenaline rush Wednesday afternoon.
