Evan Reynolds’ Family Variety Show (visit www.evan.org) runs on the first Sunday of every month at the Jewelbox Theater at Rendezvous (2322 Second Ave.). It’s a family-oriented show with a rotating cast of magicians, jugglers, acrobats and more.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, Reynolds was excited to see the Seattle Seahawks win the game against the San Francisco 49ers — until he realized that the Super Bowl was going to be the exact same date and time as his next show on Sunday, Feb. 2.

Reynolds decided to soldier on. Ticket pre-sales weren’t bad, so maybe it would all work out.

A day later, the cast was asking if there was any way to get out of the show so they could see the Super Bowl, and ticketholders were asking if there was any way to transfer their tickets to a different date. And the theater? It would rather have a Super Bowl party.

But the kicker? Reynolds’ 8-year-old son, who has been to every show, asked to skip this show to go to a Super Bowl party neighbors are having.

So having the cast, audience, venue and even his own family all saying they won’t attend, Reynolds’ Feb. 2 show will not go on.

But March promises to be a fantastic show!
