For one night only, the streets of Uptown will become a film set for four artists from the German-British art collective Gob Squad, who are on a mission: to make everyday life as passionate and thrilling as a Hollywood blockbuster.

The film begins shooting exactly one hour before its premiere, when the four performers/activists meet, synchronize their watches and arm themselves with video cameras. Continuously filming, they head off in four directions on a frantic search for heroes, villains, tragic stories, the ideal location, the perfect kiss. Every passerby becomes a potential extra with the ability to change the script.

After exactly one hour of filming, the artists will rush back to the theater, where their footage will be synced live before the awaiting audience, who themselves become a part of the film’s final scene.

On the Boards invites the audience to gather at its theater (100 W. Roy St.) around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 for a pre-show tailgate party/season kickoff celebration, complete with a beer garden, sparklers, food from HallavaFalafel and treats from BikePops.

Artistic director Lane Czaplinski will act as pep-rally captain to cheer on the arriving artists, their neighbors and their city.

The screenings will begin at 9 p.m.
