Charlotte Tiencken, managing director of the Seattle Center-based Book-It Repertory Theatre has resigned to take a position teaching arts-management courses at the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., her hometown.
Tiencken took the helm of Book-It in fall 2007. Throughout her tenure at Book-It, she has taught courses at Leslie University, Seattle Pacific University and the University of Washington.
She has directed theatrical productions locally and, under the auspices of her own consulting firm, Scarlet Productions, has worked with live performance companies across the country.
In Seattle, she has served as president of the board of Theatre Puget Sound, on the board for Pat Graney Dance Company and on granting panels for Washington State Arts Commission and 4Culture.
Prior to joining Book-It, she was general manager at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts.
Book-It’s board of directors is beginning the selection process for an interim managing director, who will see the company through its Silver Jubilee Season; they will embark on a selection process for a permanent director once an interim director is in place.
Book-It continues to be led by founding co-artistic directors Jane Jones and Myra Platt.
Day-to-day fundraising and outreach duties will be divvied up among the organization’s senior staff, including the co-artistic directors, development director Sally Brunette, education director Gail Sehlhorst and others.
