Three members of Pacific Publishing Co.’s writing staff won eight awards in Washington Press Association’s 2013 Communications Contest, which were announced Saturday, April 26.

Editor Vera Chan-Pool won first place for “Eminent Domain for City’s Profit” and second place for “Among the Elites,” both in the Editorial/Commentary – News category.

Staff reporter Sarah Radmer won three first-place awards: 

•“Outfitting the New Superhero,” in the News – Business/Technology category;

•“Crossing the Generations,” in the Features – General category; and

•“‘Our Town’ Gets New Spin with Arne Zaslove at Helm,” in the Features – Arts & Entertainment.

Matthew Wilemski also won three awards for his “Roundabout” columns: first and second places for “A Horse of a Different Flavor?“ and “A Penny Saved is a Penny Spurned,” respectively, in the Columns – General Interest category; and an honorable mention for “Resolving to Make Other People’s Resolutions“ in the Columns – Humor category.
