The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has rescheduled the previously announced weekend closures of eastbound Mercer Street and Ninth Avenue North for this weekend beginning Friday, April 11, at 11 p.m. through Monday, April 14, at 5 a.m. Travelers can expect significant traffic delays and should plan ahead and use alternate routes.

While eastbound Mercer Street is fully closed to traffic between Dexter Avenue North and Ninth, travelers heading toward Interstate 5 on Mercer Street should take southbound Fifth Avenue North to Harrison Street and eastbound Broad Street to reconnect with Mercer Street.

When Ninth Avenue is fully closed to traffic between Mercer and Republican streets, travelers heading southbound on Ninth will need to turn left onto eastbound Mercer Street and use southbound Westlake Avenue to reach the city center.

Traffic on Dexter will be maintained in both directions at all times.

The I-5 ramps at Mercer Street, westbound Mercer Street and Broad Street will remain open during this work.

Access to the Seattle Center from I-5 via westbound Mercer and Broad streets will open through the weekend, but travelers should expect delays.

Early warning signs will be placed in advance of all detours. More information about alternate routes during construction may be found at www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercercorridor.htm.

This work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled again in the event of inclement weather.
